Bundaberg Guide

Bundaberg City Guide

Located in Queensland - on Australia's eastern coast, Bundaberg is home to great seaside sights and rum that's famous all over the world! Whether you have gourmet taste buds or a taste for adventure, you will enjoy your time in Bundaberg - or "Bundy", as the locals call it!

Bundy rum!

You can't spend time in Bundaberg without visiting the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. Since 1888, the distillery has been making rum that's revered all over the globe. On the tour, you will get to see, hear, and taste the entire rum-making process!

Outdoors

Bundaberg is also home to the very southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. This portion is not as crowded as the northern parts, so you'll be able to have the sandy beaches, coral cays, and picturesque lagoons all to yourself!

The outdoor fun doesn't end there. Right in the centre of town is the Burnett River - home to virtually every water sport you can imagine, including world-class fishing. There are even evening dinner cruises that will give you a gourmet view and a great tour of the sights.

Food and drink

Rum isn't the only thing to drink in Bundaberg. The city is also famous for its Ginger Beer - a non-alcoholic drink that's spicier than Ginger Ale. You'll find it anywhere in the city, and you can even buy some to take home with you!

Most of the best restaurants in Bundaberg are located in the same place as the best view - along the Burnett River. Whether you're looking for gourmet Australian cuisine, outdoor cafes, or fun pubs, you'll find them along Quay Street and Isis Highway.

Hotels and Accommodation

Some of the most popular hotels in Bundaberg can be found right on the Burnett River. For the biggest selection, head to Quay Street.

For accommodation in a lower price range, look for a place to stay on Takalvan Street in Bundaberg West. There, you'll find hotels and motels that are just a short drive from the both the river, and the centre of town.
