Burleigh Heads
Home of the famous Burleigh Barrel, the beaches of Burleigh Heads are an international surfing hot spot and a popular venue for world-class surfing competitions.
Burleigh Heads is tucked beneath rolling headlands, studded with towering pines and native pandanus palms. The Burleigh headland was formed hundreds of years ago by a now-extinct volcano; the area remains a sacred place for Aborigines, whose ancestors once fished and celebrated on these lands. Nearby is the Burleigh Head National Park, offering hiking trails along the Tallebudgera Creek and stunning views of the Gold Coast. The quiet beachfront park is a popular draw for both locals and tourists.
As a haven for surfers, Burleigh Heads is home to several major international surf competitions. The Breaka Burleigh Pro event is an annual Four Star Rated event sanctioned by the Association of Surfing Professionals and is usually held every February.
Sip coffee on a private balcony overlooking the beach or take a break from the surf and sand at your hotel’s pristine swimming pool. From affordable self-contained apartments to luxury spa accommodation, Burleigh Heads has it all.
