Labrador Guide
Labrador, one of the suburbs of the Gold Coast, has a fine situation overlooking the famous Runaway Bay and with several offshore islands close by there are numerous water-based activities to enjoy here.
- Fishing Charters - The waters in this area are protected by offshore islands and anglers of all ages and levels can enjoy a day of excellent fishing by hiring a charter boat.
- Kayaks - Kayaking in wetsuits is ideal in these sub-tropical temperatures with water visibility reaching 15 metres. Explore the colourful marine life with full instructions.
- Broadwater - This entertainment complex provides a great day out for the family with its water slides, play areas and displays of marine wildlife.
Families who love to do things together outdoors will love Labrador. There are parks such as the Broadwater where parents and children can paddle and bathe in deep and shallow pools, as well as a whole range of exciting aquatic sports to participate in or just watch. Two of the most popular here are parasailing and wind surfing. A popular entertainment here is to watch the daily feeding of pelicans at Charis Seafoods.
There are plenty of shops in Labrador, from small local outlets to large supermarkets, and everything is within a short drive. There's a handy Aldi right in the middle of town and the Chirn Park complex at the edge of the town has several smart cafes, with specialty stores and hairdressers. Harbour Town Shopping Centre is five minutes' drive away and is much larger and there's also the popular Australia Fair Shopping Centre.
There is a huge and diverse range of accommodation in Labrador, from self-catering to serviced apartments and hotels, and prices to suit everyone from backpacking students to families.
