Hotel of Horrors.
Nov 2008 - Anonymous, Sydney
When booking with the Queensland Travel service (online) I was not informed that the hotel would be putting us on the 2nd floor. We were looking forward to a nice view, what we got was a balcony with dead and alive cockroaches and cigarette butts. We got a nice view of a grass lawn and some concrete walls, with a little tiny bit of ocean in the distance. That was nice :-)
Our "keys" didn't work on arrival, had to get them "re cut," if these were the only problems then I wouldn't have minded. TV reception (free to air channels) was snowy and poor. We were in a disabled room because I can't step into a bathtub. The hotel laundry was only 2 doors down the hall, that was handy on the last day, as we didn't have to travel far. It was such fun being put on the same floor as the hotel guests laundry!
Only 1 bedside table and lamp. There was 2 of us and we would assume we would have a bedside table and lamp each? Even if some people had asked before to only have one. We were not even asked, it was assumed because it was a disabled room that they would leave one out.
The bathroom floor that was supposed to be anti slip was so slippery I almost slipped over, if I didn't grab a towel that was hanging over the shower curtain rail, I would have ended up in hospital. The bathroom floor is supposed to be anti slip, but only a very small area directly under the shower has anti slip coating.
Other peoples cloths were still in the room, how long they had been there nobody could tell us. We had other problems, the management were not co-operative when I went to see them, they only wanted to tell me what lengths they had gone to instead of making it better, he made the whole situation worse.
I could go on, we had a horrible stay, I am not a fussy person, but if you pay $$$ for a room, you expect it to be clean, safe and have some degree of professionalism from the management.
The best time we had was the day we checked out, the concierge was wonderful.
