Hunter Valley in review
If you like wine and relaxation, then Hunter Valley is the perfect place for a great getaway. The Hunter valley is Australia’s oldest wine-growing region and since there are literally more wineries than you can ever hope to visit, it’s important to spend your time wisely.
Pokolbin is a rural area that is chock full of wineries. Whether you are a fan of white, red, or sparkling wines, Pokolbin has it all! While you’re there, you won’t have to travel too far on the wine trail. And, as an added benefit, you can find a variety of Hunter Valley hotels nearby.
On contrast, Cessnock is one of the Hunter Valley region’s biggest cities. While it is also home to plenty of wineries, the city also offers something totally unique – it sits atop a wealth of coal and volcanic soil.
As you travel around the Hunter Valley, you will do more than just taste wine. You will also learn all about the grapes that are used, how these grapes differ from grapes in other regions, and how the actual wine-making process works. You will be able to taste wines that were created at tiny family-owned wineries, along with wines that come from bigger, more commercial wineries.
When you get hungry, there is plenty of great food to choose from. Hunter Valley is home to a variety of gourmet cheeses and local produce that will make any mouth water!
If you want to see the entire region – but think you don’t have time – hop in a hot air balloon, so that you can look down on all the vineyards as you glide through the air.
