An average 3-4 star hotel

Feb 2010 - AINON, Malaysia

Average all round - standard room, standard decor, standard facilities.

The only thing out-standing is its location - in the city centre, up a hill, bustling with restaurants yet not crowded.

House-keeping rather sloppy. On some days, did not wash used glass, did not wipe bathroom top and throughot my stay did not replenish notepad.

Air-conditioning not cool for the summer.

Could have gotten better for that price

Dec 2009 - Anonymous

The cleanliness of the room was great and the staff were helpful and efficient, making our beds daily and taking out the rubbish. However we were a little disappointed as for that price we could have stayed at another place with a less central location and had a better room. The room itself was tiny and every sound made within it or the bathroom were heard by all nearby, and as a result we were woken up several times a night by other guests' movements. The view was similarly disappointing as we had a brick wall and a balcony (small as it were) blocking either side of us- we were wedged on the fifth floor against the wall of the next building over. So we had a tiny crack through which a fragment of a tree was visible, and through which we heard every fire truck or ambulance that raced past (several every day). We went up to the 17th floor pool and didn't think too poorly of it or the view but the gym (which was boasted about everywhere) was "out of order" so we could not even go inside. Overall the hotel was clean and functional but the good location was a poor trade-off for a better sense of view, privacy, and facilities.

Better than average - just!

Aug 2009 - Teneille

Staff were excellent and always pleasant. Restaurant and reception area were sparkling clean. Bathroom in room was fairly average in the cleanliness stakes, shower /bath needed a good scrub! Bed was very comfy. Car parking deal was outstanding.

average all around

Jan 2008 - Anonymous, Canberra

The air conditioning in the entire hotel wasn't working when we were there and the lifts were very slow. The rooms were pokey and basic. We had to move room once because our bathroom had some leaking tap and broken tap issues.

They offered a fan when aircon was broken which was good. TV in second room we moved into didnt' work. Location is excellent and staff were friendly and obliging. It was ok but I probably wouldn't stay there again.

I have heard other Grand Chancellor Hotels (ie in Adelaide) were better than this one.

Good hotel , reasonably priced

Dec 2008 - Anonymous, Sydney

Good hotel which was pretty reasonably priced, Has underground parking which only charges something like $23 for 24hrs of parking - to hotel patrons. The hotel was quite easy to drive to from Melb airport at roughly half an hour, once at the hotel a short walk to city nightlife, some funky bars just around the corner in chinatown.

Friendly staff especially so close to new years eve. Thick walls which made for a comfy hangover recovery!

I will stay there again next time in Melbs.
