North Melbourne
Located just north-west of Melbourne's central business district, North Melbourne is a popular residential suburb with plenty of culture and history of its own.
The North Melbourne Recreation Centre has a gymnasium, seasonal outdoor pools with water features, multi-purpose stadiums, a cafe and BBQ facilities.
The former Town Hall building on Errol Street has been converted into an arts house, a unique performance space and gallery with an ongoing program of theatre, dance, music and art exhibits.
There are plenty of great places to eat in North Melbourne. Check out the hot spots on Victoria Street and Queensberry Street, or head down to the southern end of Errol Street where you'll find North Melbourne's largest retail district. Many of Errol Street's cafes, pubs and restaurants are housed in historic buildings and have wide verandas for lingering over a meal or just people-watching.
Several balloon tours are offered throughout the city, where you can experience an incredible Melbourne sunrise along with gourmet meals, champagne and stunning views.
The North Melbourne Football Club - the Kangaroos - still use the North Melbourne Cricket Ground on Arden Street as their training base.
