Werribee Guide

Werribee Guide

Werribee is a vibrant, busy suburb on Melbourne's south-west side with a pleasant main street and shopping area. Located along the main road to Geelong, Victoria's second largest city, Werribee is a popular destination for tourists and city dwellers looking for a break from urban life.

Kids and Families

The kids will love Point Cook Coastal Park, where they can view birds, explore intertidal sand banks, tour a historic bluestone homestead and discover local marine life at the reserve centre. The Werribee River is a great place to cycle along to President's Park or head to the beach at Port Phillip Bay for some fun and relaxation.

The Open Range Zoo is full of incredible animals living in a wide, open savannah. See rhinos, giraffes and zebras grazing, monkeys and cheetahs at even lions.

Wyn City Entertainment features a wide range of family fun, including bumper cars, laser maze, mini golf, arcade games, and an indoor playground.

For a change of pace, check out Werribee Plaza for some of the region's best shopping or spend an afternoon on the lanes at Werribee Superbowl.

Arts and Entertainment

The Wyndham Cultural Centre offers an ongoing schedule of live performances, films, exhibitions and more throughout the year. You will also find the Werribee Information Centre here.

The annual Harvest Picnic at Werribee Park is held on the last Sunday in November. At the picnic you can sample some of the area's very best food and wine and enjoy live music and cooking demonstrations; there are also games and activities for the kids to enjoy.

Parks and The Great Outdoors

The stunning Victoria State Rose Garden - opened in 1986 - is home to more than 5000 roses blooming across more than two hectares.

Historic Werribee Park covers 10 hectares of beautiful formal gardens on the grounds of the Werribee Park Mansion. It provides a true insight into Australia's diverse history including a skilfully restored 1870s mansion.
