Historically, Rockhampton belonged to the Darumbal Aboriginal people. There is no better place to learn more about them - and see some great views of the city - than at Mount Archer National Park.
On your stroll along the walking trails, you will see all sorts of wild birds and wallabies. There are also several lookout points where you can look down on Rockhampton or look out at other mountain peaks.
To see Rockhampton's beauty from the ground, head to the Botanic Gardens. The gardens are home to a variety of waterfalls, flowers, and trees - some of which are more than 100 years old! There are even picnic spots and barbecue facilities for people who want to spend the day inside.
For a look at what life was like in historic Rockhampton, check out the Heritage Village. Located right near the city centre, Heritage Village offers cars, cottages, blacksmith shops, and even shearing facilities that will make you think you stepped back in time.
Rockhampton has a vibrant nightlife, so if you like to stay up all night, this is the town for you! Most of the hot spots lie between Quay and East streets.
One of the biggest nightclubs in Rockhampton is The Stadium. With its DJs and live music, you're guaranteed a loud, yet trendy evening!
Many of the hotels in Rockhampton lie near the banks of the Fitzroy River. If you want a room without a waterfront view, there are several hotels surrounding Central Park, near George Street.
If you want to be closer to the nightlife, try looking for hotels along Denham Street.
