South Coast Region Guide
Australia's South Coast runs from Sydney to Victoria.
This virtually unspoiled coastline is known for its mild climate - it's the perfect all-seasons destination - and the rich diversity of its natural beauty. Mountains, coastland, forests, rivers, and rural country living make the South Coast a great holiday destination - regardless of what you're in the mood for.
There are more than 30 national parks on the South Coast. At Budderoo Park, stop by the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre. You can explore this beautiful rainforest on boardwalks and paved tracks. Finish with a picnic at Carrington Falls.
For relaxation mixed with nature, soak in the waters of Jervis Bay. Keep an eye out for dolphins and whales while you're there. Don't forget to stop by the Marine Park, too!
To see amazing animals, tour Montague Island. The area's largest colony of Australian and New Zealand fur seals lives here. There's a penguin breeding site, falcons, and seagulls, too.
Take the kids to Jamberoo Action Park - where kids control the action! You can splash around on rides like the Rapid River, Surf Hill, and Outback Bay, or dry off racing cars, bobsledding, or playing Landscape Golf. Afterwards, enjoy dinner in one of the picnic areas or at The Loft Cafe.
Take a leisurely drive along the Sea Cliff Bridge. It follows the curve of the coast and promises one of the most spectacular driving experiences in the area.
Get out long enough to go fishing at Narooma. Don't have a car? That's alright - there's a cycleway and a walkway, too.
If you're looking for luxury oceanfront accommodation, there is plenty of choice. You can find several beach houses and cottages in Vincentia, part of Jervis Bay. Other good options include Hyams Beach, Huskisson and Callala Beach.
Looking to save a bit of cash? Try Merimbula, Narooma, or Kiama.
