Caloundra
Caloundra is one of Australia's fastest-growing holiday destinations, and for good reason. Situated at the southern tip of Queensland's Sunshine Coast, the region boasts the lush greenery of hinterland mountains and pristine white sand beaches.
Caloundra is a haven for adventuresome outdoor types, offering a variety of activities including fishing, sailing, scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing, jet skiing, wind surfing, golfing, and swimming. High above Golden Beach along the Caloundra Headland is the Caloundra Coastal Path. You'll find families hiking and biking along the path, taking in the magnificent ocean views and visiting historic landmarks.
Soak up the laid-back atmosphere at one of Caloundra's popular outdoor markets. The Bulcock Street Markets are held every Sunday and have dozens of stalls featuring unique local crafts, art items, clothing and produce; the market also has food vendors and family-friendly entertainment. The Caloundra Country and Farmers' Markets are held on Sunday mornings and have the best fresh local seafood, produce, flowers and deli items.
There is a great range of accommodation in Caloundra that appeals to every traveller. You'll find family-friendly resorts, romantic boutique inns, spacious beach houses for large groups, and affordable holiday parks and hostels for travellers on a budget.
For full service the resorts and hotels are the best option. But many prefer family accommodation in one of the many Caloundra serviced apartments. In Caloundra there are many place to eat out so the self catering in the apartment doesn't need to tie you down to the kitchen all of the time. Often groups or multiple families travelling together will enjoy the opportunity of shared accommodation, and at the same time keep an eye on the kids.
School holidays and public holidays can make booking late a bit difficult. so don't leave it to the last minute. Christmas , New Year , January and Easter are all busy times - so book early.
