We were looking for a simple place to stay and this place more than met our expectations! The rooms are basic, but well maintained and came with a tv and basic kitchen unit which was perfect for us. Given that the utilities were shared I was amazed at the cleanliness of all of the bathrooms. I am usually a fancy hotel person, but I would highly recommend the lodge to anyone looking for great value accomodation! Thanks guys - we'll be back for sure!!
We were in the top floor and it was really warm and stuffy even with the fan on but it was pretty warm outside at this time as well. Overall enjoyed the stay and staff were very helpful. Would stay again and recomend to others

Garden Island is so named because it was the first food source for the colony in 1788, also the date on what is believed the oldest (colonial) graffiti in Australia. “FM 1788” is believed to be Frederick Meridith, who tended the gardens and was steward to Captain John Marshall, HMS Sirius. There are still visible fortifications, built of sandstone in the 1820s. Still in use is reputedly Australia's first lawn tennis court, built in 1880.
St. Vincent’s College, an all-girl Catholic boarding school, was established in 1858. The distinct 19th century architecture and cluster of buildings make this an important landmark building. Besides offering visitors a piece of architectural history, St. Vincent’s College holds a unique place in Australia's social history as it is one of the oldest Catholic girls’ schools in the country.
Yarranabbe Park, along the west coast of Darling Point, has great views of the marina in Rushcutter’s Bay and the city beyond. This is a fantastic vantage point to see the New Years Eve fireworks. This is a great place for dog lovers as pets are allowed of-lead at all times. There are plenty of park benches and shady areas to sit, relax and watch the world go by.
