Excellent Budget Hotel

We wanted a cheap hotel close within walking distance of things to see and places to eat etc and this hotel fitted the bill exactly. It's very close to Chinatown but just outside and there are several eating places less than a few hundred yards from the hotel, all reasonably priced.
You have to bear in mind this is a budget hotel. We just wanted a clean room with clean and comfy beds to sleep in for the night and this is what we got. There was even a TV in the room. The hotel has Wireless internet but we couldn't access this as the service desk had run out of the $4 payment cards and only had $10 cards left. No matter, there was a free computer terminal that is for the use of hotel guests and we used that to pre-book in at the airport for our flight out the following day.
The toilets and showers are on each corridor and are communal although i'm pleased to say that each toilet and shower room is lockable so you can do what you've got to do in privacy. If you're used to the budget hotels in Europe then this is comparable although the building is older than most of these. We booked two Superior twin non-smoking rooms and they were fine. The receptionists were all fantastic. They were very helpful and courteous and knowledgeable about the area.
Our flight out the following day wasn't until late evening and the receptionist unlocked the private garage and we stored all our luggage in there until we were ready to leave for the airport. The receptionist's advice to just hail a taxi from outside the hotel when we were ready to go as it would be a lot cheaper than the train and the same price as the shuttle bus was absolutely right and meant that our journey to the International airport was stress free. All in all, the hotel was just what we wanted for our last night at a budget price.

Not a hotel

Is not a hotel, but rather a motel/hostel. Location is good because is near central station. Is old and simple setting, but pricing is still manageable although can be cheaper. Reception is great!!!

What a dump

I booked here rather late and
the room and area was like a flop house noisy. The bed was a joke so i actually left for another hotel.
On leaving the receptionist was actually great, apologetic and also refunded my night i did'nt stay.

Actually customer service was not too bad. The first night we arrived there it was too cold, so we went to reception and asked for another blanket, we were given a huge duvet which was really good. On the last day, we had to catch an early train to airport (it was still very dark) and reception guy walked us there.
Facilities should be improved.... The lift is just too old and slow and could breakdown on u anytime. I didnt like one of the shared shower rooms as the floor was sticky and slippery once you wet the floor. And Kitchen is not at all maintained properly. Would have been more pleasant if kitchen is tidier and neater and not look like an abandoned kitchen. The two microwaves were very very filthy...
There is also free internet in the lobby but it is a bit slow too like the lift.

Lift Failure

Overall stay was OK except that the lift got stuck for about 10 mins. There was no emergency measure in place as I myself had to force the door open. With my parents in the lift with me, made matters even worse.
On checking with the reception, the receptionist said it had happened a few times in the past ( !!!!!! ). If that was the case, it should have been fixed long time ago....isn't it???
I would certainly not recommend another visit in the near future.
