Penguin Island, Perth
Nature lovers shouldn't miss Penguin Island a truly unique nature tourism destination just 26 miles from downtown Perth. This small island is located less than 700 metres offshore in an area known as the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park.
Penguin Island is home to a diverse range of wildlife including sea lions, an array of marine birds including pelicans and Western Australia's largest colony of little penguins. The coastal and marine scenery in the area is stunning.
Other than observing wildlife, visitors can enjoy picnics, snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing or just the simple beauty of the island.
The island is only open in the daytime and ferry tours run from Mersey Point from September to June. Access is limited to walk trails and certain market beaches.
