Regent Theatre Guide – Spend Less, Do More

Welcome to Regent Theatre, Melbourne

You notice a little bit of a pattern – anything from the Victorian-era is heritage-listed. And who could blame the city – we all like a little sandstone architecture. And one of the finest examples has to be the 2,143 seat Regent Theatre. Opened in 1929 as the flagship Regent theatre in Melbourne, the Regent was threatened with demolition in the early 1990s. Fortunately, courtesy of a deal between Entrepreneur David Marriner and Councillor David Nolte, Chair of the Arts and Culture Committee, the Regent was saved and led the way for the revival of classical performing arts theatres in Melbourne, which positioned Melbourne to be the performing arts city that it is today. Visit the Marriner Group's website to check out the latest shows – you won't be disappointed.
