Let's be honest, Perth probably isn't the first place that comes to mind when one thinks about the central hub of party places for a great vacation, but that certainly doesn't mean it has to be the last! You've got the Zoo, the Mint and the War Memorial! Not feeling pumped to book a 'Perthetic' holiday just yet? Well, without suggesting that you're hard to please...you might want to consider adding a few of these to your itinerary:
And you don't even need to spend a cent to hear the recommendations from these residents!
They chose to make this city their home for a reason so be prepared to hear their resounding united voices. You'll get the inside scoop on why Perth is so fantastic at Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. Some of the residents will talk to you, others may choose to talk amongst themselves. From seals to penguins, urchins and molluscs, make no mistake that at the end of the day surely this many proud Perthies can't be wrong.
Or pack your flippers and head to Mettam's Pool for a different kettle of fish, so to speak…The sheer number and size of colourful local aquatic Perthlings you'll meet there is likely to gauge your attention. But if, for whatever reason, you don't happen to understand marine-life-lingo, Perth's power to please doesn't end there.
For the price of a ritzy cocktail…
If, like so many of us who are mature enough to admit it, you're still just a big kid at heart then a trip to Perth is a great place to start. At Just Jump, feel free to embrace your inner child side in an adult trampolining class. Check the website to book your journey down memory lane in advance and, of course, the children just might have some fun there too…
You can take the family to McDonalds for cheeseburgers and hot fudge sundaes afterwards
And who's going to judge you if you do? But if all that bouncing starts to make you feel like it's time to get back to the future then maybe it's high time for you to go on a high tea tour of Perth! Like a pub crawl for the classy, you can sip, chat, nibble and talk with likeminded people as you walk around the city. Sophisticated and refined, you're sure to feel back in your cultural element in no time. More of a coffee connoisseur? Then head to the crochet café for a similarly refined alternative. From beginners to experts, all are welcome to have a yarn.
Find your wild side in Perth!
Are you more of a 'less talk, more action' type of person? Then perhaps becoming a venomous snake handler for a day is more up your alley. At the Animal Ark Wildlife Education and Training Centre, you can do just that. In this one day course, you can learn how to identify, catch and safely handle some of Australia's most deadly snakes. The only caveat being, you don't get to keep your new friends at the end of the day.
And if you really want to put your guns on display, what better a way to do it than at Perth's biggest indoor shooting range, located just a few minutes outside the CBD? And don't think you need to be 'Dirty Harry' to get your foot in the door; you'll be given full training and safety equipment on the day.
Give Perth some time
Hire a car and explore the surrounds! Drive to the Pinnacles. There you will find an amazing formation of limestone sculptures or spend some time at Rottnest Island and, despite the misnaming, this Island has more to do with the smiley wallaby like marsupials known as quokkas than rats. So greet their smiley faces and watch their wiggly little walks but before you even ask the question, the answer is no - you're definitely not allowed to take one of these little cuties home with you either!
