Welcome to The Sydney Mint

The Mint Museum: This museum is one of two surviving buildings constructed as a hospital in 1811, just 20 years after the first settlers landed in Sydney. A branch of the Royal Mint was housed here from 1852 until 1927; gold miners brought their quarry here to have it turned into bullion and currency. Though the artefacts from the mint can be found at the Powerhouse Museum across town, there is a small historical display and cafe on site.
