Legian Guide: Spend Less, Do More

Welcome To Legian

Legian-Beach-sunset-Above-The-WavesA perfect place for travellers looking for a relaxed beachfront experience, Legian is located just north of Kuta and south of Seminyak in Bali. The town itself is rather small, but it still manages to delight visitors with its amazing beachfront and extensive selection of hotels.

In addition to a number of comfortable mid-range hotels and self-catering apartments, Legian also has a selection of budget accommodation that caters to backpackers and the surfing crowd. For visitors seeking a more luxurious setting, several establishments offer high-end accommodation, complete with a selection of luxury amenities. Most accommodation is situated near or on the beach.

Top Three Things to See and Do

  1. Legian’s main attraction is its beaches, and the area is known for great surfing and boogie boarding. Newcomers to the sport can take surfing lessons from the Surf School.
  2. Every weeknight at 5:00 pm, a game of beach football is held on Blue Ocean Beach, and visitors are welcome to join in.
  3. On Saturday and Sunday evenings, everyone heads to the beach to enjoy music and ‘fire pois’ (performance art).

Spa and Pampering Treatments

Legian-Beach-SunsetTime spent at or away from the beach can be used to enjoy one of the many different spa treatments on offer in Legian. Services that can be enjoyed while on the beach include manicures, pedicures, hair braiding, and informal massages. Leaving the beach and heading to one of the three local spas will provide everything from traditional massages to body masks made with honey, clay, and flowers. Higher-end treatments last from 90 minutes to over three hours.

Where to Stay: Legian Hotels

While most Legian accommodation tends to be in the mid-range as far as price is concerned, budget and higher-end travellers need not worry; there are accommodation options catering to them as well. A small selection of cheap hotels in Legian – most of which are located a few blocks from the beach – offer clean rooms for budget travellers, while those seeking to ‘go all out’ can select from boutique hotels, spa hotels, luxury apartments, and seaside villas. Mid-range accommodation caters to families as well as couples and groups, and many of the short term apartment rentals that are available include full kitchens for self-catering.
