Pratunam Guide - Spend Less, Do More

Welcome to Pratunam

Pratunam plays host to the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, which at 88 storeys high is the tallest building in Thailand and the most distinctive landmark in the Pratunam skyline. Pratunam is also a popular destination for travellers, and hosts an amazing selection of bazaars that offer all types of bargain-priced clothing and accessories, jewellery, wallets, belts, luggage and more.

Pratunam has some first-class hotels and supports rail links with Suvarnabhumi International Airport at both Makkasan and Ratchaprarop Stations.

Top 3 Things to Do

Immerse yourself in ancient Thailand at Suan Pakkad Palace. The building is beautifully located and maintained in time-honoured Thai style amongst tropical gardens and ponds.

Visit the Platinum Fashion Mall and the Pratunam Market. These two vast shopping areas are located on both sides of the same street (Petchburi Road). A shopper’s heaven.

See Erawan Shrine. This is easily the most active shrine in the city and is always busy with worshippers praying to Brahma. Thai dancers and musicians are on hand to perform for the god.

Where to Stay

Pratunam has so many superb four and five-star hotels, but with the budget traveller in mind, Pratunam accommodation can also be inexpensive without sacrificing quality and charisma. Cheap hotels in Pratunam include some superbly run two and three-star guesthouses and self-catering accommodation, many of which are within the complex of a tropical garden setting. There are also an abundance of hostels in the area serving the backpacker that accommodate both male and female guests.

Eating Out

Whether you are looking for a tasty bite from a roadside stall to eat on the move or a romantic dinner, you will find Pratunam does not disappoint. Shopping centres like Pantip Plaza and Platinum Mall also feature some well-priced eateries specialising in European cuisine and Thai snacks.

Pratunam is also a popular area for Middle Eastern restaurants and visitors who eat halaaal, as there is a good selection of restaurants. The only African restaurant in Thailand, Abyssinia, is located in Pratunam.
