Byron Bay in review
Located south of the trendy Gold Coast, you will find Byron Bay – a more relaxing, but equally beautiful seaside town. Overlooking the Coral Sea, Byron Bay is home to some of the best beaches in Australia.
As you might expect, there are plenty of places to lie on the sand in Byron Bay. One of the most popular is Belongil Beach, which stretches a few kilometres from the centre of town northwards.
And, in that generally northern direction is where you will find most of the hotels in Byron Bay. Luckily, there are plenty of rooms overlooking the water!
If you’re into more than just sunbathing, take advantage of some of Byron Bay’s water sports. In fact, Byron Bay is home to Julian Rocks Marine Park – which is considered one of the top scuba spots in all of Australia.
One of the must-sees in Byron Bay is the Cape Byron Lighthouse. While you can see if from a variety of spots around town, the best way to get up close and personal to it is by walking towards it from Clarkes Beach. On your way, you will see rainforests and tons of native animals. Once you get to the lighthouse itself, you will be taken aback by the amazing views!
For something totally different, head to Ewingsdale. For more than 100 years, this small town has been home to Byron Bay families and farms. In fact, the locals even call it the “Gateway to Byron Bay”! While you’re in town, you will see some great vegetation and even distant mountain views.
