Central Station

Central Station is Sydney’s main rail terminal, built in 1906 on top of an abandoned convent and a cemetery. The sandstone concourse with its impressive vaulted ceilings is home to the quaint Rail Heritage Centre; suburban and intercity trains pass through the terminal regularly. If you’re travelling in from the south, keep an eye out for the closed but lovely Mortuary Station, built in 1869.

There are plenty of interactive exhibits to explore, hands-on science demonstrations, a Strasburg Clock replica, and a guitar that was owned by Angus Young of AC/DC.
