Coral Coast City Guide
Home to crystal blue water, palm trees blowing in the breeze, and sunsets that almost don't look real, the Coral Coast was one of the first areas in Fiji to be geared towards tourists. Even though other areas have since sprouted up, the Coral Coast is still incredibly popular with travellers.
The Coral Coast lives up to its name, as it's the soft coral capital of the world. One of the first things you need to do is grab your snorkel or your scuba gear and head out to see it.
For a look at everything the area has to offer, hop aboard the Coral Coast Railway. This old fashioned train will take you up and down the coast, through the nearby forests, and even over to the Muka caves.
Away from the coast, you can have an adventure on the Sigatoka River. There several companies that will take you on a day-long tour of the river - complete with Fijian villages and exotic wildlife.
When the sun goes down on the Coral Coast, the Fijian fire walkers come out. Watching them strut across steaming stones is better entertainment than any nightclub could provide!
Most of the resorts in the area also offer their own entertainment, too.
Every Saturday, a number of markets set up shop along the Coral Coast. The Sigatoka market is one of the busiest - but it's also somewhat small, so be sure to get there early.
Because the Coral Coast was originally developed as a vacation destination, the area is home to a number of all-inclusive resorts. If you're looking to spend less, there is also plenty of traditional accommodation, too.
And, as you might expect, virtually all of the hotels on the Coral Coast overlook the water - so, no matter your budget, you'll always wind up with a great view!
