Welcome to Mrs. Macquaire’s Chair

This famed Sydney vantage point has been offering uncompromising views of the harbour for more than 150 years.   According to legend, the chair was carved from a rock for Governor Lachlan Macquarie’s wife, Elizabeth, who loved to come to this spot and enjoy the view. To get to Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, head to the eastern edge of the Royal Botanic Gardens; admission is free.
